On the latest episode of AEI’s Banter podcast, we have a double header. First up, we interview AEI’s Michael Barone on his new book on how surges of migration have transformed America and it’s politics. Michael talks through some of America’s earliest migration surges, how they changed the country, and how we still feel their effects today. Michael then talks about how demographics formed the city of Detroit and contributed to its current problems. But Michael ultimately concludes that political decisions, not demographic destiny, placed Detroit in its current plight. Next, we interview Michigan Governor Rick Snyder on the challenges facing Detroit, his approach to governing, and what he’s trying to do in office. Enjoy!
