We sit down AEI’s own Sally Satel and discuss why prisoners would want to donate an organ, what society has to gain, and the potential dangers of such a policy. Sally also elaborates on her work concerning creating a market for organ donation, where donors receive compensation for their generosity.

On this, the 98th episode of AEI’s Banter podcast, we sit down with AEI resident scholar Christina Hoff Summers to talk about men and women in the workplace. Equal pay day was this week, and we begin our conversation with a simple question: do women earn 77 cents to a man’s dollar? Christina walks us through why that’s a misleading statistic and how a lot more can be explained by the individual preferences of women. We also discuss the unique challenge that women face in the workplace and what policy makers can do to help women deal with those challenges. Enjoy!

<itunes:summary>On this, the 98th episode of AEI’s Banter podcast, we sit down with AEI resident scholar Christina Hoff Summers to talk about men and women in the workplace. Enjoy!

On the latest episode of Banter, we delve into what Americans really think about same-sex marriage. AEI’s own Karlyn Bowman and Jennifer Marsico sit in to discuss the often contradictory nature of the public’s views. For example, at least a plurality of Americans support same-sex marriage, yet they also favor a constitutional amendment to define marriage as between a man and a women. Go figure. No one said untangling the web of opinions was going to be easy. We also discuss how views have changed over the last several years, if attitudes will continue to change, and how homosexuality compares to other social issues. Enjoy!

Fresh from the 11th floor studio at AEI, the latest episode of AEI’s Banter podcast drills down on the energy revolution sweeping the nation. AEI blogger extraordinaire, Mark Perry, discusses how and why oil and gas production is heading through the roof in these United States. Mark explains why the US is leading the way, how expanded drilling benefits the economy, and what the impact is on the environment. The innovations that led to the boom took place largely outside the direction of public policy, making it a true case of private sector innovation. We also compare Texas and California, two states that are using their reserves in dramatically different ways. Enjoy!
