Episode number 100! Thank you to all our listeners who’ve supported the show for 100 great episodes. This week, we sit down with AEI scholar Jonah Goldberg  to discuss the grisly Gosnell trial and the media coverage surrounding it. We also talk about how the demand for government to “do-something” in response to perceived problems distorts public policy. How do conservatives operate in a society where “do-something-ism” is rampant?  Plus: Thoughts on love, life, loss, and more on a very special episode of Days of our Lives Banter! Here’s to 100 more episodes!

Banter #97: Changing views on same-sex marriage

On the latest episode of Banter, we delve into what Americans really think about same-sex marriage. AEI’s own Karlyn Bowman and Jennifer Marsico sit in to discuss the often contradictory nature of the public’s views. For example, at least a plurality of Americans support same-sex marriage, yet they also favor a constitutional amendment to define marriage as between a man and a women. Go figure. No one said untangling the web of opinions was going to be easy. We also discuss how views have changed over the last several years, if attitudes will continue to change, and how homosexuality compares to other social issues. Enjoy!

On the freshest episode of AEI’s podcast, Banter, AEI’s new visiting scholar Ramesh Ponnuru sits down to discuss how conservatives should address social issues going forward. First, we begin by discussing abortion, talking about what Americans believe, what the take away from 2012 should be, and how conservatives can effectively engage on the issue. Then we talk gun control, were Ramesh outlines a set of reforms that may effectively deal with the problem without reducing gun rights. We also talk to Ramesh about his journey to political commentary. Enjoy!
